What else works on me?

20120216-082219.jpg

Over 6 months since my last surgery. Not much different on my pain level. Currently no other treatment could fix or help with my pain. Started seeing pain specialist couple of months ago. Doctor prescribed me with some nerve pain medication last time for trial. It didn’t help with any pain relief, in fact I have put up over 5kg because of the medication. I have now prescribed with a different kind of medication which also treat the nerve pain a couple of days ago to try for the next 3 weeks. I will have to try different kind of medications to see which one of them works on me.
Still a long way before the insurance case settle. I have found the insurance company will not give a shit of your situation and/or status. All they do is to ignore or make your life even harder when you request for assistance. I did not think I have been treated well at all compare to other people with the similar situation. Just hoping everything settle very soon…

New Year, New Start?

20120109-003314.jpg
A new year just started, and I’m another year older. Things has changed since last year, is time to move forward. New job, new living arrangement, are not easy in the beginning. With the injury, things even harder to start with.
Very disappointed with the insurance not given enough assistance and taking so long for everything from the beginning. Just hoping things going smooth and start to get some sort of movements on the claim. In terms of my condition, just hoping it will get better and the medication can help. Can’t feel much different with the new medication, but will give it another few weeks to try it out until my next consultation. Can’t wait to get these over and have my normal life…

Would that help?

20111220-222140.jpg
Been about 5 months since I had my last surgery. I’m still having problem with the pain. The scan result showing a bit of damage on the nerve. Visited the Pain Specialist today and spent about an hour there for the consultation. He suggested me to try this drugs and see that would control the pain. If this works, I might need to continue taking that for the next few years or even longer. Not sure what’s the side effect from the drugs as yet…

It has been a year, and could be forever…

Just over a year ago when I suffered the spinal injury from the car accident. After lying in bed, support from the walking stick and 2 surgeries, thought everything would be over. Had another MRI scan and revisit with the surgeon, the surgeries were successful but appear suspected permanent injury on the nerve. Showing swollen on the nerve that causes the pain. There is no time frame on when it’s going to heal, unfortunately there is no medicine or other way to make it better. The surgeon referred me to the pain specialist and see if they could help me to reduce and control the pain. Just hope that will heal faster, I can’t live with that forever…

Nice day, great time, but hard work…

What a beautiful day today. I can’t help myself to get out from the house and get some fresh air. Sculpture by the Sea is on again in Sydney. Thought I should give it a try to see this once a year event. Left the house with my long lost walking stick which I have put away for a good few months this morning. I couldn’t have done the walk without it. I spent a few hours there, spent most of the time for breaks and slow walk. I would have enjoy more if I don’t have the injury.
I had another MRI scan early this week on my spine, scheduled for another appointment with the surgeon coming Friday for the result and solution. Hope there are solutions for that…

First trip after a year…

It has been over a year since my last trip away from Sydney. I was unable to travel for the past year due to the injury. Since the last surgery, I am slowly recovering. I have spent a year battling and I could not stay home anymore. Thank god I have found myself a job. This Brisbane trip was my first trip in my job. Although I’m not 100% recovered, I thought I should give it a try and see what I can and can’t do because of the injury. Only a overnight trip, so I travel light. I’m so glad that was only an hour flight from Sydney to Brisbane, pain started to hit me after 20 minutes on the plane, it wasn’t a good feeling at all. The job went well in Brisbane and I had a few staff members to help, it went smoothly. I was resting most of the time in Brisbane. I was so tired by the time I’ve got home. I was lying in bed and worked from home for the rest of the day.

Unlike the old days…

Thought I should go out and get a bit fresh air couple of weeks ago. Came across the Sydney Art and About. Due to my injury, I can only do a few of the spots, it is impossible for me for the long walk.
I have started working in one of the globe company in Australia. Haven’t been working for almost a year, it is a bit hard for me to get back to the routine.
Many changes recently in my life, hope this will be a good start for me to get my life back. Not much improvement of my condition, pain on my legs and get tired very easily, hydrotherapy still needed twice a week. I’m due to go back to see my surgeon next week to discuss my condition.

Just the beginning…

It has been a while since I’ve update this blog. Was busy putting my life back together.
Just over 2 months since I have started my hydrotherapy, twice a week and going well so far, building back the muscle on my legs. Currently still on the pain killers, because I’m still getting the pain. I’m due to go back to the surgeon in a few weeks time for follow up and assessment.
A year after the accident, I’m now starting to get some assistance from the insurance company. A good start! It has been a very difficult time for the past year. Being at home every day is a nightmare. I’m so lucky to find a new job and start my new career. It is not easy for me to drive 45 minutes to and 30 minutes from work every day and haven’t been working for almost a year. I have to carry the pain killers with me at all time and take regular breaks. Just hoping the pain not going to be permanent and recover very soon…

Recovering…

20110823-064742.jpg
Feeling so much better than before. I have already put my walking stick away. Walking really slow as I’m still recovering, it could take months or years depends on the condition. Have to be very careful everything I do and everywhere I go in the mean time. I have now started my hydrotherapy sessions twice a week for the next 4 months. I’m spending between 30-45 minutes each session in a heated pool and guided by a physiotherapist. Feeling really well in the water, but will get tired and pain after a little while. It is normal and will get better over a period of time.

The bright side…

It has been over 2 weeks since I had my second surgery on my back. I’m feeling much better than after the first surgery. I got off the bed on the second day after the surgery and walked around the ward without using the walking stick, First time in 10 months! Huge improvement, but still need to go for the physio and will take a bit of time to recover. Still a bit of pain on my lower body and legs, still not sure if there is any permanent damage on my nerve.
I have started to get out from the house to meet some of my friend and get some fresh air. I can only walk for a couple of hundred meters then starting to get a bit tired. I’m also starting to look for jobs and hoping to get a job within weeks…
